Stuart Lancaster Turns Axeman
Only five weeks to the start of the Rugby World Cup and England Head Coach has axed a further 7 players from his squad, the moist notable name being Chris Ashton.
Stuart Lancaster has narrowed down his options out wide by dropping wingers Chris Ashton, Semesa Rokoduguni and Marland Yarde as part of a seven-man cull to England’s World Cup squad.
The Red Rose coach has also wielded the axe over prop Matt Mullan, flanker Matt Kvesic, scrum-half Lee Dickson and centre Kyle Eastmond ahead of Sunday’s return to Pennyhill Park.
It leaves 39 players to fight it out for inclusion in the final 31-man squad, with lock George Kruis and No 8 Nick Easter being the surprise inclusions going into a series of warm-up Tests against France and Ireland.
